Help with dead light bulbs plz
I recently purchased a 2000 honda accord from a private owner.
The following bulbs are dead in the interior panels.
The bulb under the automatic shifter. I have to look by the odometer to see what gear i am in
The bulb behind the A/C and Defog buttons. That whole Bottom Row is out (like 3 buttons dont glow in the dark. The top row that shows where the air is blowing is fine. It's the ones that ISN'T the yellow light (shows if a/c is active, that is working) but the other one that gloves in the dark and looks cool...i hope that makes sense
The little light that behind the cruise control button that shows cruise control is active is also out.
Also the bulb behind the clock that lights up..during the night. I can't tell what time it is anymore..at night
Anyone know the part numbers to these light bulbs? And where to get them at the best price?
Any information would be greatly appreciated
Btw i checked on the light bulbs faq thread...I don't think they list any of the interior dash panel light bulbs so yeah...

most likely, they don' t just blew all together. well, at least not that often.
check the fuse first. not to lecture anyone, but there's actually three fusebox in accord, one under the hood, one is in the driver side door jam and the last one(i think the interior light is in this one) is located at the passenger side door jam.
and yes the shifter light "tree" is lited by one blub, i believe.(tipical honda way)

If you've got Speedometer Cluster back-lighting, some switches and the Heater Control partially illuminating, your fuses are fine.
It sounds like the car may have been the victim of an Overcharging Alternator: where the over-volt condition blew out lamps indiscriminately.
I've delt with three vehicles thru here in the last 3 months (all 6th gen) which had bad alternators.
Let me see if I can find your bulb info for you.

Re: Help with dead light bulbs plz (P_Adams)
Thanks a lot P Adams
That helps..Yes speedometer lighting and heat controls and stuff lots of them are partially lighted
So I'm pretty sure your right....
Bad alternator...ummm do you have an estimate of how much it'll be to fix this problem...i'm a total newb and just want my lighting back
Well I'm pretty much going to *try* to fix this myself and replace the bulbs....

I would advise you to get a Helm factory service manual (it's the one Honda techs use) for your car. With it you can learn a lot about your car. And maybe save some money on repairs and maintenance too. Just go to Helminc.com and look up the manual for your car. You can also learn a lot just by reading the owner's manual. People come on this forum all the time and ask questions that are answered in their owner's manual. Here's a link

Along with BLKFLSH's recommendation about the Helm's Service manual, The first of the electrical testing equipment you should pick up is a Multimeter (Digital or Analog).
As you become familiar with the systems in your car, you will find there are some universal truths common the most passanger vehicles in the US.
Battery Voltage (Steady State / Engine off, no loads) = 12.2 to 12.5 volts
Battery Voltage (Starter engaged / Engine cranking) = Greater than 9.5 volts
battery / System Voltage (Engine running (good Alternator) = 13.8 to 14.4 volts.
Put the Voltmeter leads across the battery terminals w/engine running. You should see values between 13.8 to 14.4 volts and no higher.
