Hello and Help
First hello to all!
My wife has a 1998 Honda Accord 4cyl. EX? (power leather cd sunroof). Well she just hit 150K and is starting to have a few problems. Sometimes at a light it wants to die the idle drops to like 200-250 RPM's and sputters when you rev it up a little. I have changed the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. However all the parts were from Auto Zone. So I was wondering if that could be the problem or something else. Also the CV 's are starting to go bad is that something I can do my self. I am pretty mechanicly inclined i.e. pulled motors, tranny's, rearends, transfercases....... So most of my stuff has been on Chevy trucks. Basicly I guess it just needs a "tune-up" so what all do you guys suggest, and where do I get the parts AZ or somewhere else.

First off get a helms or chiltons manual.
Axles are not hard and can be done in around 45 minutes or so.
As far as idle could be a lot of things.
Simple suggestions if your spark is good: fuel filter, air filter. Check fuel pressure if you can. Has your timing belt been replaced yet?
Did these problems happen before or after you replaced cap rotor plugs wires?
For plugs I recommend NGK only as that is what Honda calls for and they are good.
Use Honda fluids when possible they do not cost that much more and can be purchased at any dealer.

Re: Hello and Help (z7199)
chk engine lite on??? first off i would junk all those parts from thre DEADZONE and use HONDA parts,,,,,,,,,as for the fuel filter do not worry ,, it is located inside the fuel tank,,,need to pull the fuel pump to chk it out and it is not really a filter per say,, more like a screen sock ...........does engine miss on any 1 cylinder??

Deadzone ah? Well that answers that question. I often suspected they looked up parts using clairvoyance and a divining rod to find them. I swear they hire walk-ins.

Re: (YeuEmMaiMai)
Yes the timing belt has been done no check engine light. just a little hesitant sometimes. Also it was running a little rough at 120K thats when I did the AZ "tune-up" It doesnt seem to be missing on any cylinders just a little rough idle. So it seems what I am getting is do another tune up with dealer parts and it should be alot better?

uh, doesn't the Helm manual also list Denso part numbers? When you go to the dealer I believe they sell you NGK, but whats wrong with Denso?
