Default Headlight Bulb Question

I'm planning on getting HID and I'm wondering what's the bulb size for a '91 Honda Accord SE? I want to buy a 10,000k or 12,000k HID bulbs but I'm unsure if the wiring or whatever is enough to keep the bulb or the internal parts from burning out. Can I just get the bulbs and replace my current ones or should I buy the complete HID conversion kit with ballast and stuff?

Well if you are just wanting bulbs, i suggest silverstars. They are good quality and wont burn out too fast. Be aware that most "10k super bright bulbs" that are sold on ebay are junk. I have gone through a few pairs and they were white yes, but dimmer than my OEM bulbs.

i dont mean the bulb burning out, i mean the wiring from the car and stuff. i had a friend that had to rewire his car cuz his HID bulb burnt it out. also, only silverstars i could find were halogen.

I'd query your friend" about the "real" reason his wiring went south. I only mention this because a properly designed HID system typically draws but 15 to 25 (total system)amps; as opposed to the tradition (for halogens) @ 15-20amps per bulb

Check this link out. Read this and it should answer any thing you need to ask about. Except retro fit, but that's a totally different post!!!

bright light or color? K stands for Kelvin- that's your color, 4000K to 5500K are the brightest, but they are white with no color. Remember, the more color, the more light you lose. 6000K to 8000k is your blue, a mix of light and color, not as bright as the 4000k to 5500k, but still bright as hell. And then you have 10000k and up which is purple and mostly all color, which has even less light output. Now all of these are much brighter then standard bulbs (by far), but it's up to you to decide what it is you want. The more color you add, that's measured in kelvins (K), the less lumen's you will have ( lumen's is the brightness of the light) But remember that all are much brighter then standard halogens...

Silverstars are a rip.....$50, no thanks. Just do an eBay search for "XENON 9006" (or whatever bulb type you have) and try out a cheaper set at a fraction of the cost. I picked up some LITECH Platinum H4s for my moto....they are crystal white....not yellow at all, for $8 with shipping. The key is to find a bulb with a very light coating of blue color.....too dark and you start losing usable light and you can't see a dam thing.

I got a set like these, just H4s:
