is there really a difference in header choice (brands)? what should i look for? is $70 to little for a dc sports header? which is better 4-2-1 or 4-1? thanks alot

A header typically will not yield great results (although every bit helps) IMO your money would probably be better spent on boring out your throttle body ( http://www.maxbore.com )

But if you would like information on a header check out the BASIC GUIDE...click me but what brand/trim is your accord. The ex exhaust manifold flows the best and is (I believe) 4-2-1 and I believe has out-performed most aftermarket header brands. Just some food for thought. If you want to get an aftermarket header after your research just remember you get what you pay for.

yup honda designed things pretty well, you wont see that impressive of a gain buying a header.

only time id recommend going out and getting headers on is something with an old v8 under the hood... those exhaust manifolds are the ugliest crappiest things i have seen in my life.

So is this the EX for all years or a certain year... because i dont wanna spend money on a header if my car already has a good one....

I am pretty sure the ex's for 90-02 are 4-2-1 regardless they flow the best and have the biggest piping and are VERY comparible if not better than most aftermarket header. With the obvious exception with the very high end header companies.

get an EX header, have it cleaned so it lookes somewhat perty (even though its cast), and then have the collector cut off, and weld a 2.5" collector to the end (an exhaust shop can do it for cheap)....then get yourself a 2.5" testpipe, and run the same size piping from the cat back...with an aftermarket intake w/ a decent filter, you should see a slight increase in power, and better throttle response

So are you saying to cut of the collector comepletly....and then put test pipe in its place or to relocate the collector???

i have the ex manifold on my lx, just remember to purchase the secondary pipe as well as the oxygen sensor is relocated... if you do not have the pipe where the o2 sits it will NOT fit...

the issue is that though the runners are of adequite (sp?) diameter, the collector (4-2-<u>1</u>) is too narrow....im not sure if you can actually do that on an EX header, but i know its been done to greddy and DC sports headers...the only "cheap" header w/ a 2.5" collector that i know of is made by chikara (sp?)...you could either just run a long ass collector to where the cab back meets, or basiclaly have 2 seperate 2.5" pieces

could you try to fnd the bottom portion of a 4-2-1 header? or would that not bolt up. im not sure of the bolt pattern of the header. cuz that sounds to me like it would be much easier than welding and cutting. just a thought https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

not a bad idea........someone w/ a b1 HAS to have wasted money on a DC header

I've got a question about a header for a 1997 EX. My friend has a JDM header from an h22 and I was wondering if any of you know if it would bolt right up to my accord head and collector. Its just the top section of the header. I searched for this but couldnt find anything. I'm new so I'll button up my flame suit just in case.
