Default Has anyone here swapped a jdm f22b dohc into a accord

I was looking in hmotorsonline.com and they have them for like $550
I'm going to put a turbo on my f22a1 but If I can do the f22b dohc swap I'd rather do that with it only costing 550 and some shipping then really i think it would be worth it.Cause my first plan was to do the h23 head hybrid with my f22a.
Any thought or experiences with swapping a jdm f22b dohc into a 1992 accord lx would be appreciated.

It bolts right up. You'll need a different ecu. The p39 is made for it. You could use the p14, and thread in a knock sensor, but you will run rich. The power you gain will be nothing compared to a turbo, but if you want to turbo the f22b, its a great motor for it.

Thanks for the reply man.
Yeah I'm going to turbo something here in the near future. The jdm f22b seems like a really cool motor to
..But really I've been doing searchs and asking questions and reading up on turbos engine swaps hybrid engines uberdata vs Chrome..Dsm 450s drilling wider holes in a dsm manifold..it's all just kind of swirling around in my head...and i need to sort it all out and decide on exactly what I'm going to do and go about making a complete list then buying everything after i have a list of everything I need for my decided project.

but anywho..So even if I get a jdm ecu for the f22b it will still run rich. But can you mod a jdm ecu for chrome?I've heard it's to small to fit everything.

But if I have to use a 14 that would be a good chance to learn how to use chrome before I do the turbo...I plan on having Dave Blundell from zerolift tune it after I get the turbo on....In what ever shape it takes.

jeeze was really lost there you said it will only run rich if I use a p14 is that because it's for a h23 and the fuel map is for a slightly larger displacement?
And the p39 is made for it.

The H23 has higher compression(9.8:1), and needs more fuel than the f22b(9:1). You can't chip just any ecu. If you plan on using uberdata or crome a P06 would be the perfect ecu for you. Definately take some time to decide what you are going to do, good luck.

Here's a lot of links I will be using for my build:

since we are on the subject i was wanting to ask a couple questions about this swap, it will help me, possibly the OP, and other people who search and find this topic. (since we dont have a handy sticky at the top with what engines, block/head combos, and such that will work with our accords)

1. Which accords will this engine drop into?

2. The accords this motor will go in, is it just pull old motor, put in new motor and you are good to go? or are there some modifications that have to be done?

3. What ecu's work with this engine?

4. Would it be better to use a h23 engine? Does it just bolt in as well? (i heard its harder to get parts for the f22b since it is JDM and the h23 is USDM)

and finally a question aimed at the OP DMC1....

i looked on hmotorsonline and i cannot find the f22b, only the h23...could you give me a link to it please?

1. This is an obd1 motor, so it will swap into a 90-95 accord w/o any major wiring issues.
2. Yes, it's just pull and drop. You have use your old fuel rail, on the jdm engine it enters from the wrong side. If you have a 5th gen accord you will need an upper exhaust manifold from a h23/f22ax/f22b dohc. If your current car doesn't have secondaries, you will have to run wiring for them, or just leave them open.
3. A p39 is the ideal ecu. I bought mine from "i'm the girl" on cb7tuner.com. A p14 will also work, however you will need to thread a knock sensor into the block and you will run a little rich(h23 has higher compression). You can also chip a p06 and tune.
4. The h23 is slighty more powerful, but it has frm sleeves and a higher c/r. If you want to boost the f22b dohc is great, iron sleeves and a 9.1:1 c/r. Parts aren't hard to find, the f22b dohc is basically a f22 block with an h23 head. Use an h23 or gsr timing belt and a f22 water pump.

I'm not sure at places to get the motor, I got one on eBay. On a scale of 1-10 for quality, I would give it a 5. The secondary control box was broke, and the motor was dirty. I had to repaint the v/c. It did come with the distributor, exhaust mani, and intake mani though.
