Well I've gone empty and stalled and only been able to put 14 gallons in it, and the gas light never came on. I've had the car for 7 year. I'm telling you that the documentation is wrong. If you dont' believe me, get a gallon gas can, put it in your trunk, and run the car empty. Then put the gallon in and go to the gas station, fill it up, and see how much you can put in.

I'm sorry Gen_X_Accord, you're wrong.

My old 3rd gen had a 17 gallon tank. I know because it ran dry when the gas guage quit on me.

The old 4th gen that we used at the shop as a parts car ha a 17 gallon tank. We've had to put over 16 gallons in it before.

My girlfriend's old 5th gen has a 17 gallon tank. I KNOW because she's run the tank damn near empty multiple times. If it only had a 14 gallon tank, I wouldn't have been able to pump the 16.5 gallons into it that it needed.

My 6th gen has a 17 gallon tank. I've pumped maybe 15.5 gallons before. Not to mention the cars that salesman had run dry at the dealership I worked at...

And if you haven't guessed it yet, yes, the 7th gens have a 17 gallon tank too.

Don't believe me? Check your owner's manual. Check Edmunds.com. Ask your local dealership's service manager. Either you're mistaken about YOUR tank, or there's something wrong with the fuel pickup on your car.

We must have different different gas tanks or fuel pumps or something then. I really did put 15.3 gallons of gas in it the other day. Maybe a 94 vs. 97 diff I don't really know. I assumed the parts were the same.

I just got 336 miles on my accord, Is that good, I have a have a tendacy to speed alot... 97 SE!

its a 17 gallon tank... you'll never be able to completely use al 17 gallons though, you have to take into account the gas in your lines and such. I've driven around 50 miles with my light on and put over 15 gallons in. you will run out of gas before you use all 17 gallons, but there will still be a small amount of gas in the tank, it doesnt pump the tank completely dry

Would anyone use the fuel injector cleaner stuff you run through your gas tank? The manual said i should, i was wondering if anyone ever used it and noticed a difference.

Hell Yes on the fuel injector cleaner. Gasoline quality is horrible right now, and many gas companies are using a lot less detergent in the gas than they used to. Try Valvoline Synpower Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner. You can get it at NAPA or other autoparts stores.

Re: (Gen_X_Accord)

my light came on and i had to put 13.5 gallons in it so the reserve is almost 4 gallons on my 06 car
as for using only 14 of 17 on a tank and "running out " i find that hard to believe.
maybe it's capacity is 17 gallons and has a 3 gallon air space due to the location of the filler tube but ther is no way your fuel lines and filters will hold 3 galloons of gas when it officially runs out of gas i would say with gas not in sump plus lines one gallon maybe 1.5 tops.
