Front Wheels Clunking, struts?

Front Wheels Clunking, struts?
My 99 accord coupe has 155k miles on the body. Only issue with it is that it has as a really bad hollow clunking in the front wheels. I just had the car on the lift and the sway bar bushings are almost new. Zero play in everything and the mounts are good.
From what I know ball joints don't make this loose clunking noise..If they did they sure wouldnt be intact right now by the sound of it.. So is it safe to say that my struts are blown? The shocks are quiet and to be honest I really cant say the front end is skipping or handles bad at all but noise is just annoying!
If I replace the struts whats a cheap decent brand to go with and also is a spring compressor "really" needed? On my mustang I just let the control arm to the ground to fit the spring/strut in and then the weight of the car down on the spring to compress it when re installing but im not sure with the honda.

YES! Do not try and do your struts without a spring compressor you will kill yourself. Even completely extended those springs are still under several hundred pounds of force.
The purpose of a spring compressor is to disassemble the strut, so that you can replace the damper without replacing the spring. If you do the whole strut as an assembly you don't need one.
Check your shock bushings. Usually, blown shocks your car will "float" down the road and when mine were blown it was very noticeable.

My 99 ex has 200k... I replaced the swaybar endlinks and the sound went away. Parts were like 40 from Autozone and took less than an hour to install.

sway bar links will still make noise if they dont have grease on them. once the grease wears off the rubber breaks down make noise and eventually will crack and fall apart
