It's possible, but it is not very practical. How fast is he looking to go? If he really wants some speed, he would be much better off getting a manual. My car has a best run of 14.8. However, I am currently on my third auto tranny. The Honda auto tranny just does not hold up well to added HP. However, he could modify the tranny to make it stronger. If he is serious about making his auto fast, I would recommend not upgrading anything on the motor yet. I would recommend contacting Level 10 and getting a tranny build from them, including a higher stall TQ convertor. This alone will lower you quarter mile time more than any bolt ons. Then after the tranny is bullet proof, start modding it.

hmm i'll probably be better off getting an h22 without the tranny and have the tranny built from level10, saves about 500 bucks or so, one question does it really matter if you buy an h22 built for an auto or 5speed when you want a leve10 tran

The engine is just the engine. Like Big James said, you can definitely put an auto tranny on an H22 that was manual in a previous life. You will need an ECU that will work with the auto tranny though. I'm not sure about the '94-95 (OBDI) Accords, but the OBD II accords have a built in tranny control module in the ECU, so if your friends car is '96-97 you will need to get a 1996 JDM H22 auto ECU. This is the only ECU that I know of that will work with the JDM H22 auto tranny.

If you are doing the level ten upgrade to your existing F22 tranny, you might be able to use your current ECU, however I don't know how well it would perform, seeing as how the F22 tranny is programmed to have pretty long gears. Other people who have actually done this swap could probably tell you better than I could, but I hope this helps.

the obd 1 accords have seperate tranny controll modules, so you would keep your TCM but replace the ECU with a jdm h22 auto ecu...obd1

With the OBDI Accords, you can use a P72 or P13. It does not ahve to be an auto tranny ecu. Since you have the seperate control module, you will have no problems with your auto tranny.

Right. I wish I was OBDI, but if you are OBDII you'll have to use the '96 JDM H22 auto. Do you know by any chance if a usdm '96 H23 auto tranny and ECU will work? I know the gearing would be longer, but it would at least be better than the F22 tranny. Thanks.

The ECU will not work. You have no VTEC capabilities with it. Damn, I hate OBDII
