F22B2 external coil distributor to F22B1 internal coil
Yes, I have searched, and searched, and searched for this extensively. What I want to do, it doesn't seem like anyone's really taken the time to write up how to do yet. So bear with me.
Last year, I hydrolocked the F22B2 in my '97 LX, and swapped to an F23A1. I'm very happy with the swap overall, but one thing bugs me. I've reused the F22B2's harness and external coil distributor, and with no real provision for an external coil mount on the VTEC head, I'm using some random bracket I had laying around that actually works. I pulled a good a good internal coil distributor off a '96 EX the other day at the junkyard, and made sure to get the harness side's plug and about 6" of wire to go with it. The LX's harness has two plugs and 7(?) wires for both, while the EX's have one plug and 5(?) wires.
TLDR:
-in car
'97 LX
LX harness
LX distributor
-parts
EX distributor
EX harness side plug with 6" leads
Now, knowing what I have on the car, and what I have ready to go on, I have a couple questions on how to go about this conversion.
-Do I match the wire colors up and solder the leads on the EX distributor plug to the LX's harness?
-What do I do with the extra wires? Solder them together? Let them roam free?
-Can I de-pin both the LX and EX plugs and just pin the LX's wires into the EX's plug? One again, let extra wires roam freely upon the meadows of VTEC?
Thanks in advance everyone!

The two extra wires would be going to the external coil. With the coil gone there would be no need for that part of the harness, so nothing should be roaming freely upon the meadows of VTEC.
If you can repin using the EX pigtail connector that would be best. Much cleaner installation.

So it should still fire the internal coil without those two(or so) wires going to the EX distributor?

Re: F22B2 external coil distributor to F22B1 internal coil
The two external wires to the coil are no longer needed as the internal coil of the B1 has those two wires going directly to the igniter inside the distributor. These will be the YEL and GRN wires externally, but the YEL becomes YEL/BLK at the distributor connector when it is internal. It is the same, electrically, as the main YEL/BLK feed.
The only problem you may have is if on the B2 the main power feed from IGN1, which is the same YEL/BLK coloring as the coil feed, is not long enough or has the incorrect connector for the EX plug to simply re-pin.
On the B2 the YEL/BLK splices to the coil(becomes YEL) and distributor, and also another YEL/BLK to the Igniter. Giving you two wires YEL & YEL/BLK on the B2.
If you could post a pic of your current B2 harnes/plugs/wires/etc and the B1 Harness/plug/wires/etc that would make it easier to point out where the differences are.
I can find OBDI plugs, but not OBDII plug pics on the interwebs.
