ever tow an accord with 4 flat?

like it says, ever tow an accord wtih 4 wheels flat on the ground? i am particularly wondering about the newest generation. our honda material says it can be done with a sequence of shifting prior to towing to ensure trans protection, but i am wondering if the odometer will roll while youre towing. anyone?

you can but yesy it will roll, I do not suggest 4 wheel towing, a tow dolly would be a much better idea

a tow dolly for sure. it is the cheapest way to tow a car.

no, you dont understand my question. the accord will be fitted with a hitch to be pulled behind an rv accross the country. its the standard way to tow a car behind an rv. I want to know, will the odometer roll while you tow? i think it will, but was hoping someone with experience in this can help.

Ah, I think people think you mean towing the car with four FLAT tires. As in the tires have no air in them.
I have no experience with towing, but I'd at least get a dolly that lifts the fronts... only having the rear rolling along...
With the front tires on the ground, I'd not know how you'd lock the steering wheel to prevent it from turning and taking your SUV with it... also, I'd be weary of the unnecessary drivetrain wear.

with the key out of the ignition you can turn the steering wheel and it'll automatically lock

Not 100% sure, but the vehicle speed sensor in your tranny spins with all front axle movement (even in neutral).

If the odometer is using that to calculate mileage, it will add to the miles on the car.

If you wanted to, you could disconnect the sensor prior to the trip.

May not have to if the ecu doesnt look at the sensor with the car off. Dont know.

from what i kno, cuz my grandparents have an RV, a saturn is the best car to tow behind a car because it will not collect miles while rolling. it only collects miles if the car is on, and when you are towing the car, i think u just put the key in ACC position. the downside with 4 wheel towing is, well, according to my grandpa, is that you cant go in reverse except like 3 feet, because the front axle will turn, and you could break it. just my .02

their is not a sequence that u do for towing the car on all four wheels. The car is not on so the ecu shouldn't be putting on clicks on the car. I asuming that this is a standard car that u are talking about so just leave it in neutral and u should be fine.

wrong answer. The honda accord manual gives a specific sequence something like this

1. start car
2. shift to reverse
3. shift through all gears

They recommend doing it every 50 miles for the 1994 model year

since the odometer in the accord is eletronic (even the older ones) it will not count unless the car is on.

For the newest generation if it is an automatic u must Start the car shift to d4 then into neutral and release E brake and turn key off. if it is standard it is only put in neutral and release E brake.
