Auto > Manual swap
A shop quoted me $2600 through email for a 5-speed swap in my CG3. His quote was the same for the H22a & F23 trannys. His quote also includes everything such as axles ,trans, shift linkage, ecu, pedal assembly, new clutch, mounts.
What other questions should I ask before considering this? I've seen problems with vtec not engaging after these swaps--what exactly goes wrong? Should there be a warranty in place for this service?
Does this price sound reasonable to you if the job is done correctly? Considering I heard a quote of $4000 from another shop, this offer seems fair. Keep in mind I'm in Southern Ca.

Re: Auto > Manual swap
nope the price is too hight. Ive done auto to manual conversion on my integra and everything added up to $900. Its not that hard, do your research, get all your parts ready i mean all of them bolts nuts everything and do it yourself. Youll save a lot of money and learn something.

Re: Auto > Manual swap
I think I got mine done under a grand. It's not too bad. I did it by myself and took me about 4 days, 6-7 hr/day lol. it was after like 2 years of research tho lol.

Re: Auto > Manual swap
it's not reasonable or sensible to pay someone to do and auto->manual swap. from-the-factory manual CG3 are available.
if you can afford the $1,600 they are overcharging you couldn't you also afford to buy a manual equipped version of what you have now then sell your car? you should at least come out even. maybe even make a small profit if you're good.
