Default Don’t know what this piece is

I replaced my valve stem seals with the head on the engine. I also removed my upper intake manifold, vtec solenoid and egr valve. While putting car back together I found this piece on the ground. Could anyone tell me what it is, it would be greatly appreciated. 2000 Honda Accord lx 4cyl f23a

That looks like the cap on top of the spring for the LMA(lost motion assembly) to keep the VTEC rocker floating when not engauged. Note the cap on the spring.

This is the LMA off an H22, but the parts on an F VTEC engine are about the same.

I appreciate the response but it’s not from the LMA, it’s smaller then that. Here’s a pic next to quarter to get an idea of the size, it’s almost the size of the dowels.

Just a guess, cause I haven't had one apart in awhile, but could it be one of the float pins from the vtec solenoid?

Recheck your rocker arms and that all of them have their piston assemblies installed.
If you didn't rubber band them together during disassembly the piston may have popped out.

Thanks for the help, it ended up being one of the synchronizing pins/pistons on the primary rocker arm assembly

Closer inspection seems 2 fell out and I only found one. Of cours nobody sells just the timing piston so I’m trying to find used head or rocker arms if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Use a pencil magnet down the oil return holes in the head. It may have even fallen down into the oil pan.

Thanks for the suggestion mad_mike but I already dropped the pan and checked the oil returns. I was able to get a used cylinder head for 100 so I’ll have what I need in a few days.
