Re: DIY - Rotor Over Hub Conversion - NOW COMPLETE - 56K take a snooze (NGUSPEED)
FYI - all wagon owners, 4th Gen Prelude VTEC rotors are the correct rotors for this ROH conversion

No posts for a year and a half. But I just read this thread. Your pics in this excellent write up pointed the way to success! Thanks. (I did not do the conversion, just a rotor replacement.) The bottom line for all you folks like me who could not get the bearing hub off the steering knuckle: liquid wrench and a bigger hammer. It's the rust that's got it stuck.

Re: (jdrockafella)
FYI, the Acura CL hubs are running about $90 each these days. Enough to change the financials for me.
Beware of generic parts sites that don't differentiate between the 1997-1998 and 1998-1999 CL hubs. I almost ended up with some hubs that would not have worked.

Re: DIY - Rotor Over Hub Conversion
This write-up is great.
I have one quick question that I cannot confirm from the photographs: What centers/locates the rotor on the hub?
It looks like the hub has a machined lip to center the rotor, but I cannot see for sure; it also looks like there is air between the studs and the rotor; I have trouble believing that those little screws would do the job.
Thanks for the help. I look forward to doing this swap soon.
Best,
Jesse.

Re: DIY - Rotor Over Hub Conversion
96 honda accord ex
beautiful right up i will definitely be doing this to my accord once i get the cash. would be so nice to be able to check the rotors without having to have the hub pressed off(i hate taking anything to a shop unless i have to), the axle nut off, etc. you see all he had to do to get the damn things off but installing looked easy beezy
so 98 2.3cl hubs and bearings are all i need to make the conversion? does it work on front and rears?

Re: DIY - Rotor Over Hub Conversion
-> Nothing from a 6th gen accord will work (suspension wise) on a 4th or 5th gen accord.
-> Your civic bearing was not pressed onto the hub since it needs to be installed into the knuckle first, then secured with a c-clip, then have the hub pressed into the knuckle.
-> There is no point to remove the whole upper control arm, since its more work. Its easier to remove 1 nut and cotter pin and smack it free then to remove 2 bolts.
-> I secured the knuckle assembly in my vise and beat the old bearing out with a hammer.
-> Rear disc brakes on accord are already rotor over hub, so no this wont work for the rear.
-> You would need to change the front rotors, hubs and bearings at the minimum to complete this swap.

Looks awesome!
how long did it take you to pound the wheel bearing off the knuckle? Mine's been taking off numberous times so I guess it shouldn't put up a fight if I go with the hammer method??
