I have a 1997 Honda Accord that the engine won't start after getting hot. I also have a Honda Odyssey 03 that the trans just blew up in. Now I was looking into getting a jdm transmission and a jdm j35 engine for my Odyssey. The old Engine dose run with a little oil burn and cam rock (very minor). Could this stock engine be dropped into the accord and hook up to the trans. It was a V6 accord if that changes anything. Really any insight would be great, thank you

You say that "It was a V6 Accord", is it a 4cylinder with a 4cylinder transmission now, or still V6 gear?

If both vehicles are V6 the engine and transmissions are interchangeable with some slight modification depending on year, Intake exhaust and some other small bolt on stuff maybe.

Yes they are both v6 engines and trans stock. Sweet so Ill have two running Hondas then

Hold up, I just noticed that you are looking at a J35 engine for the Accord, make sure that it is an earlier 99-04 J35A engine. You may also want to look into running the ECU for the J35 in the Accord, not sure that the stock J30A ECU will work all that great.

The 97 Accord would be a C27 motor. Would a J30 or J35 swap into it without a lot of mods?

neither Hasport nor Innovative have mount kits for this application. the J-series will not mount to the C-series transmission and an adapter plate does not exist.

If the OP were a qualified welder/fabricator or an engineer in need of a new hobby, building up a mount kit and getting this to work could be justified. otherwise scrap the C27 and J30 and find a good used K24 which will have kits available for a swap into the Accord.

Yeah I'll just keep my mouth shut on this one from now on. I made the mistake of only looking at the Wiki page for J series engines and it lists the J30A1 for the 1997 - 02 Accord. I should know better, the year breaks in North America are Gen 5 (94-95 OBD1 & 96-97 OBD2a/b) and Gen 6 (98-02 OBD2b)

Not sure who the idiot was that went through the wiki and changed the dates based on manufacture date, who the F#@k does that? It's always been based on Model year not manufacture date! It must be the new generation that feels the need to change everything to have some feeling of accomplishment.

I have wondered if some of the other "C" motors would swap into the 95-97 V6 Accord. Maybe the Acura C32 or even the C35. I don't have a V6 Accord, so it really doesn't matter, but I still wonder.

the only C-series with any similarity are the C35 from the RL and the C32 from the TL. not sure how much is shared, but i've worked on both and having seen one, you'd be familiar with the other. the C27 in the accord was actually a Rover engine from the UK. as far as I know it shares nothing in common with any other honda engines. then the C-series used in the NSX is another outlier altogether.
