Cold Air Intake bypass valve????????
hi Everyone, My name is Scott and Im new to this message board. I have a question that I was hoping I could get help with. I own a 96 Honda Accord LX and ive recently been doing work on it.
Ive bought a K&N 69-1208TS 69 Typhoon Cold Air Intake. I've done research and I found that there is a risk of hydrolocking your engine when using a CAI. So they say to buy a bypass valve to protect from hydrolocking.
My question to you guys is which bypass valve should I buy for the intake that Ive bought? K&N don't make bypass valves so I have no clue what to look for or what size it's got to be?... Thanks for the help guys!!

Hey Scott, I had the same concerns when I first installed my cai.
Something like this will work
http://www.amazon.com/AEM-20-403S-Ai.../dp/B000CFQF5W
Just be sure to measure your piping and get the correct diameter valve, ie 2.5" or 3"
Something else you could consider is just converting your cia to a short ram style if you know rain will be in the future.
This is what I do.
When I know its gonna rain, I just disconnect my lower piping and attach the filter to the end of the engine compartment piping and it lives behind the battery.

You shouldn't really have to worry about hydrolocking unless you have a slammed car and are expecting near flood levels, for everyday rain injen has made the "hydro shield" which helps keep water out of the places it shouldn't be.
