Re: Car overheating, radiator fan only works when car is off??
Hi i am having the same problem with my 95 civic lx. My radiator fan does not work, i have a new waterpump, thermostat and i checked all my fuses. Would taking the ac fan and swapping it with the radiator fan fix it? Also, How much is a new relay? My car like boils the antifreeze after i stop for awhile so that white container cap pops right off from that. What should I do? Thank you

Funny that in the first 25 posts on this thread no one mentioned doing the easiest thing first: crack the bleed bolt and bleed the air from the system at the thermostat housing. If the fan switch on the thermostat housing works and the fans aren't coming on something is not allowing coolant (or enough coolant) to flow over the switch sensor. I just went through this with my 94 EX and changing the thermostat and bleeding the air fixed it.
Post #26 sounds like the thermos switch on the top radiator hose is not working, if this is happening after the engine is shut off.
This link helped me test all the connections and relays, etc:

I think in '94 there were 2 fan switches & a fan timer module. The fan switch on the thermostat housing is responsible for running the fan while the engine is on. Unplug that & jumper the wires with a paperclip or something. Key on, that should make the fans run.
If it does, you've just demonstrated that all the fuses & relays are working OK. So you need a new fan switch.

, I jumped my wires with a paper clip but they do not kick on,,, any ideas?
