Car died, restarted with stuck gear and flashing D4
Hi! New to this site, but I'm running out of ideas! I recently purchased my first Honda, a 93' Accord. Was driving and shut it off, then went to restart 2 minutes later and it wouldn't start. Tried for a bit and got nothing. Waited a minute or so and started up! Then it was stuck in 4th gear with the D4 light flashing. I had parked it for 3-4 days after that. Went out to start it and it started right up like normal with no flashing light, and shifted perfectly fine. I took the auto TCM out to look for burnt resistors or leaky capacitors and got nothing. I don't know what to look for next and I would really appreciate any input! Thanks so much

ECU code 17 is for the VSS. If a transmission related code is set some components are monitored by either ECU/TCU. TPS, VSS, thermo sensor and ignition coil are monitored by both control units.
I'll post later for further diagnostics.
But IIRC its fairly simple. If no other codes, clear the memory.
Warm the car up, find a safe place to test drive.
Place the transmission into 2nd and accelerate up to 4Krpm then close the throttle to 1500rpm, leave the throttle closed for 5seconds.
If not code happens it was an intermittant error, check the wiring around the VSS.
If the code returns...
