Alternatives to Z1 fluid

Alternatives to Z1 fluid
So it's been a long while since I had reason to post up on H-T since my 91 Civic died a horrible death, but it looks as if I'm rejoining Honda owners again.
The car in question is a 2000 Honda Accord 4 door. I4, automagic. It was literally driven by an old man (my grandfather) and maintained at the dealership.
I've been doing research as I'm a fiarly handy guy and it's just had the recommended trans fluid flush 20K miles ago (I know it needs to be done like every 15K miles, and not 120K like Honda says.) I was looking to alternatives to the Z1 rated fluid. It seems as though Dex VI may be a better option as it does not contain as much fluid modifiers to soften the shifts. I'm 28, not an old man so I can live with firm shifts if it means extended trans life.
I saw some people recommending Dex III but seeing as that's no longer an official spec anymore and Dex VI is the GM recommended synthetic replacement I was leaning towards that direction. I will of course also be changing the filter (If someone can drop a link to that I would appreciate it) and doing the fluid change out about 4 or 5 times over the course of a few weeks. it will likely get a big assed fluid cooler as well to add some fluid capacity and hopefully keep the heat at bay.
If anyone else has any other ideas on what an Accord with 140K might need speak up.
I know that it's had the timing belt replaced, the brakes serviced and flushed 15K miles ago, and all scheduled maintenance at the dealer. Newer tires and an interior that's in good shape. It will certainly be an upgrade from the beater (gave $300 for it) Ford Aspire I'm DD'ing.
