accord 2000 sedan 4cyl. front shocks
Hello
it’s probably time for new front shocks.
any recommendations? honda or another brand?
there are regular kyb quick strut sets from rockauto in a competitive price- how are they? the gr-2 or excel come only as a shock absorber. however they are the same for sedans and coupes and for left and right, while honda have different shocks for sedans and coupes and for left and right..
if factory honda- are the coupe’s shocks any improvement over the sedan’s?
thanks

Re: accord 2000 sedan 4cyl. front shocks
Not an Accord but I had a good experience with KYB GR2s on my 01 Intrigue (not an Accord I know). I think the GR2s are similar to the Quick Struts (Excel G w/ the spring) for the Accord. Compared to the stock struts, the KYBs rode firmer and helped the handling a little bit. Bear in mind it's still a stock replacement so it's not going to be night and day but more like a mildly pleasant upgrade. If my 2000 4cyl sedan needed struts, that's the ones I put on.

i've just ordered from hondapartsonline coupe shocks with all the rubbers, will use the existing springs.
it's reasonable to think that the coupe struts are sportier.

well, as a service to the public- Honda quick struts for coupe m/t 00-02 are about 200$ each at Hondaprtsonline, as opposed to other variants which cost about 400$. lord knows why.
and i was lucky that they had to make a special order to some of my parts, and since i'm going to swap from auto to manual, i eventually bought those quick struts for couple of bucks more.
