So guys recently my girlfriends 99 Accord 2.3 LX has started to over heat. Oddly its only happened twice. The first time after we got home I heard a hissing sound as if the AC system had a leak but it for sure was coolant coming out what seemed to be the lower hose area. I let it cool, pulled and tested the thermostat and it only partially opened. Replaced it with a new one which I compared and it opened up more than double the amount, so I figured it was her thermostat. So a few days later after she drove it to work and got her car into the garage I heard the same sound and more coolant was leaking out. Similar area, seemingly from the lower coolant hose. Any ideas what could be causing this? Her fans both work so its not that. But it seems to happen right when she shuts the car off, then the temp goes up while the coolant is overflowing out of the engine.

did you check the hose for cracks or holes could be dry rotted?

You gotta have some sort of leak there.
