99 Accord Dashboard removal help!
I have gotten everything apart, it's almost out, the only thing left is all the plugs on the drivers side fuse box.
The question is do i have to take apart and out the whole fuse box, or do i just unplug every plug to that fuse box and out it comes?
I can see all the plugs, but the other issue is it seems the wiring harness continues past the main fuse box and goes towards the firewall. Is that something i have to deal with also?
Or am i making this harder than it should be and i could just thread the harness through the dashboard so it is all bunched by the fusebox and out comes the dash? and when i re-install it thread it back through the dashboard and plug everything back in?
any help is greatly appreciated, i have the shop manual and it says nothing too specific about this area.....

Just try the easiest thing, and if that does not work, then try the next. The threading the dash harness sounds right though.

Re: 99 Accord Dashboard removal help!
Yeah the pictures would help a lot if you get a chance. That helps a lot too, there's a couple in the fuse box, there's some random blue plug that's not part of the fuse box, and then the harness runs towards the firewall it seems so i don't understand how it is supposed to come out with the dash....
If it's easier to e-mail, let me know and i can PM you my e-mail adress! thanks!

Ok here we go. Straight from alldata with text and pics.....
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Remove these items:
o Center console
o Glove box
o Front door opening trim, both sides as necessary
o Front pillar trim, both sides
4. Disconnect the combination switch connectors, ignition switch connectors and driver's airbag connector, and lower the steering column. To prevent damage to the steering column, wrap it with a shop towel.
From outside the driver's door, disconnect the side wire harness connectors (A), cabin wire harness connectors (B) and door wire harness connectors (C) from the left (driver's) fuse box (D). Disconnect the dashboard wire harness connector (E).
From under the dash, disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (A, B), steering hanger beam wire harness connector (C), and the brake switch connector (D). On M/T model, disconnect the clutch switch connectors (E).
From the passenger's side, pull the carpet (A) back as necessary. Disconnect the SRS wire harness connector (B), ECM/PCM connector (C), air mix control motor connector (D), evaporator temperature sensor connector (E) and antenna lead (F). Detach the ECM/PCM and the antenna lead harness clips (G). Using a Torx T30 bit, remove the ground bolt (H).
From the driver's side, disconnect the parking brake switch positive terminal (A), and detach the harness clips (B). On AT model, disconnect the parking pin shift connector (C), and the shift lock solenoid connector (D).
From outside the front passenger's door, disconnect the side wire harness connector (A), cabin wire harness connectors (B), roof wire harness connector (C) and the door wire harness connectors (D) from the right (passenger's) fuse box (E). Disconnect the dashboard wire harness (F).
10. From under the dash, disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (A), blower motor connector (B), blower resistor connector (C) and the recirculation control motor connector (D), then detach the harness clip (E), harness holder (F) and connector clip (G).
11. From outside the driver's door, remove the caps (A), then remove the bolts (B, C, D, E), and lift up on the dashboard (F) to release it from the guide pins (G).
12. Carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.
13. Install in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
o Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
o Before tightening the bolts, make sure the dashboard wire harnesses are not pinched.
o Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
o Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the customer's radio station presets.

Re: 99 Accord Dashboard removal help!
yeah, that is always the funny part. dont be surprised if you have a few screws left over. i did when i had to get to my cluster the first time. and it was no biggie as they were some of the ones that were just impossible to get to.

Re: 99 Accord Dashboard removal help!
I'm thinking I will just because I don't feel like stuffing my hand in small places and hurting myself just to put a screw back in that doesn't really matter or impossible to get to. ha.
I was surprised I didn't have anything left over from when I took my transmission out a while back!

Re: 99 Accord Dashboard removal help!
Well got the dash back in a week or two ago, and thought i would update, worked just fine, got MOST of the screws back in, i think i skipped over the metal brackets that are supposed to be screwed into the bar the runs across the back of the dashboard, but it sits in there nice and snug, wasn't too difficult though, had a couple of problems with finding what plug goes where again lol.
