1999 Accord manual clutch problem.
1999 Accord 4.2L 5 speed manual, 202000 miles, regular fluid maintenance.
Today I was driving home from work and took my home exit of the highway. After the stop sign I made it to 4th gear/50 mph+. Pressed the clutch and dropped to neutral, but I could not shift into 5th. I stopped and googled and came to what may have happened, before I take it to a shop for a new clutch I'm going to get a new master and slave cylinder set.
I can 'bump/roll' or whatever to get into up to third gear and after two hours sitting on a level surface there is no fluids dripping, there is also a very dry piston looking thing on top of the clutch pedal, no leaks there either. Fluids level for the clutch is barely an 8th inch under max. Clutch pedal can move too easily but does spring back into place, there is a new click I can hear when it's half depressed though, electronic sounding.
To possibly save a small or large amount of money, is there a way to test the slave cylinder or master cylinder for functionality without removing them? From what I've described am I even looking in the right direction?

Re: 1999 Accord manual clutch problem.
you can watch the slave while someone pushes the clutch pedal down, if it's moving about an inch or so it's likely the clutch itself gave out, specifically the pressure plate
if there are no leaks and the slave is moving then it's likely the clutch itself
if there are no leaks and the slave is moving then it's likely the clutch itself
