Hello,
My 97 accord has low idle when at operating temp. The idle is around 550ish. It's the same in Park, Neutral and In gear. Switching from drive to neutral does not bring the Rpms back up, likewise switching from park or neutral to drive doesn't bring the Rpms lower (at operating temp when the Rpms are 550).
The problem seems to be temporarily cured with a high way run. Also when in stopped in gear, a quick gas pedal press (on and off) bogs the car a little when the Rpms go down.
Any thoughs?
The Rpms do not "hunt"


UPDATE: I cleaned my throttle body valves and etc, as described in the guide and the problem went away for now. Car idles smoother too.

A good cleaning of the TB and IACV never hurts anything

Then we can assume the tune up stuff (cap, rotor, plugs) are all up to date.....

Will do, the problem got worse after I sprayed a little of Pb blaster on the throttle-cable-spring-assembly.

I would check your fast idle thermo valve, it uses a flow of coolant and the change in temperature of it to adjust idle.
