Post 97 accord Engine Cleaning?

Hi everyone
my engine Compartment is really Dirty looks like the previous owner drove thru mud all day then Threw muddy water in the engine
i heard that you can take your car to the car wash and spray in there to clean it but you have to cover some important stuff Does anyone know What do i need to cover? and what do i use to cover it? if you could please help

Also i am posting a pic of the engine area last pic is of dirt (thats only a little of dirt in the last pic)

Ensure that the whole intake filter is covered because water getting sucked into the engine= bad deal.

The distributor
Spark Plug wires
Fuel resistor box
Alternator
Fusebox

and that should be all unless I am forgetting something. Also, using Simple Green works wonders. When spraying it down, use it on the mist setting.

what do you suggest using to cover everything?

Where is the Alternator and whats it look like and where is the fuel resistor box? oh and the distrubutor? im not too good on cars..

use a plastic bag and cover the dizzy which has ur spark plugs wires connected to next to ur intake, and use some engine degreaser spray it use a pressure washer and u will get a clean engine bay.

hmm wow playboybunni your engine bay area is Filthy,that does need cleaning,

mine is very dirty too... i found this thread while looking for a way to clean the engine bay. But im not sure what to use to cover the distributor, and Shutweld where is the fuel Resistor box? i have a 1996 Accord Lx and i dont know where to find the ALTERNATOR or THE DIZZY as they Call it. does anyone have a Engine Area Diagram or Schematic? or know of a theard about the 5th Gen Alternator i just need to see a picture of the alternator and the disturbutor attached too the car so i can find it in my car and should i cover the battery too?

Please help Playboy and I.

hmph... i cant find any pics of the alternator in the engine bay either hottieboi..

i cant even find a Diagram...
does anyone have a picture of there alternator in the engine so mt and another user (hottieboi5674) can find it in our engine compartments and cover it.

This is no fun..

Automotive 101 here we go!

Alternator = Yellow
Injector Resistor Box = Green (doesn't have to be covered, just don't spray the shyte out of the connector)
Distributor = Red
