96 vtec to 97 engin/tranny swap
I have a question. I swapped a 96 Honda accord 4 cylinder vtec engine and transmission. Transmission is automatic. What do I need to make my vtec work.the 1997 accord used to be a 4 cylinder automatic. I was told I need to buy certain a ecu to make the vtec work. The engine says HA. The swap came from a 1996 honda accord ex. Any information is appreciated

Re: 96 vtec to 97 engin/tranny swap
Berks, I believe you would need a 'POH-315' for the OBDII AT VTEC engine. Your non EX/VTEC car was probably a 'POH'.
You will also need to add a wire to activate the VTEC solenoid from the PCM. There is no VTEC oil pressure switch on the later 97 models so no wiring needed there.
But the distributors are different as well, EX used a Hitachi with internal coil, while the LX/DX/VP/SE used a TEC with external coil. So there will be a slight difference in the wiring harness.
I would suggest locating a PCM/ECM from a 96/97 2.2 EX Accord, along with the wire harness and distributor for an easier swap.
There is a writeup on this swap in the FAQ, but I believe it is for the 94/95 cars.
All the engines will have 'HA' in raised cast letters on the engine block. Directly below that, right above the front mount, should be two other codes.
'F22B#', which will have a '1' or '2' where the # is. B1 is original a VTEC engine, B2 is a non-VTEC engine.
Code below that is a serial number, which will not match your VIN.
