Default 96 Accord lx overheating

So I have a 1996 Accord lx with the 2.2 L4 sohc. Recently it has begun to overheat. After some quick diagnosis I replaced the thermostat. Now the radiator fan won't turn on(ac fan works just fine).I know there is a temp switch for the fan. I found two sensors but I don't know which one is which. They both look the exact same except one has a black end and one has a brown one. The black one is on the top radiator hose next to the block. The brown one is on the thermostat housing. Help me. Thank you in advance.

I can never remember which switch is which, I just try each (one at a time) with a paper clip. if the fan doesn't turn on with either then I put power direct to the fan connector. by then I know what needs replacing and have forgotten already which connector I checked...

UPDATE: got a chance to work on the car. The cooling fan sensor is on the thermostat housing, however replacing this did not solve my issue. The cooling fan still won't turn on. any ideas?

The radiator fan motor may be dead. Apply direct power and ground to the fan motor and see if it runs.
