Default 94 Accord Engine Shut Down Code 15 Ignition output sensor

My 94 Accord with 79000KM check engine light on and engine shut off right away. The engine can start again after 1-2 minitus and chech egine light will be off after restart.

Per Honda dealer, Error Code is 15. After checking by following the procedure for Code 15, I was told that the Ignition Coil needs to be changed. After Changing a brand new Ignition Coil and reset computer, I have same problem. This morning, the engine shut off 2 times within 10 minitues.

Can somebody helps me?

Thanks a lot.

I suspect a damaged Ignition Igniter (Module to some).
But before you run off and buy one, please check the Distributor Cap and rotor. I have seen about a dozen cases where a rotor that has suffered from High Voltage burn thru the the Distributor Shaft has caused the igniter module to fail from this errant charge. Also check the appropriate connectors, you may be suffering a momentary power loss

Thanks for help.

I let Honda dealer check again. Code 15 was again reported. Per dealer, either the brand new Ignition Coil may be faulty or the computer in car may have problem.

Is it possible??????

Well, Anything's possible; but not probable.
I'd still suggest checking out the rotor, cap and ignitor (as I mebtioned earlier
)

Hi,

I changed the distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs, but I didn't reset the computer. I still have the same problem.

Do I need to reset the computer or root cause is still there?

Expect your suggestion.

Thanks

By the way, what's ignitor? Is that the assembly with the key?

Thanks

The ignitor (ignition discharge module) is a little component inside the distributor. Kinda like an isolation amplifier. The ECU sends a signal to the ignitor, telling it when to fire the coil. The ignitor is supposed to prevent voltage spikes from the coil, from feeding back & frying the ECU.

Ignition output signal is the signal from the ECU to the ignitor. That code can be caused by a bad ignitor or even a loose wire between ECU & ignitor. Or maybe the ignitor has a flaky ground.

Thanks a lot.

What is ECU? Is it easy to change the ignitor?

Man i cannot believe that a dealer would say code 15 is a bad coil ,, the know better.. every single code 15 i have seen , it has been a bad ignitor..
Gld you got if fixed but i would sure question the techs that work at that dealership..
