Default 94 Accord LX dies, and eventually re-starts

So it’s happened to me several times. Just doesn’t seem to start, after I drove it somewhere. Typically in 10 minutes it starts again. So it stopped for 1 1/2 years almost without a single occurrence, but then my son, woo has Been driving it for that year and a half, had it for on him Sunday night. Wasn’t see a spark when I pulled the two SP wires off and used a screw driver to get it to short to ground, didn’t see either two spark at all. Got it towed this morning and the SOB started right up and sounded like it was fine. Took to the family mechanic, and, it’s back to NOT starting. New dist cap, around the 1.5 year ago mark, new fuel filter same time. Not sure why it’s being an ***, but it is. Could it be a timing belt issue? The water pump failed and it was replaced along with tensioners and timing belt about a month ago. Was fine until Sunday. No mods just a commuter for my 17 year old to and from work. Because school isn’t a thing any more.

just a hunch sounds like it doesn’t start after it has been ran??
If the issue happens after it has ran and gets no spark i would pull the dizzy cap and check for power at the ignitor and coil while cranking the engine when still hot. They could be overheating or oil soaked and shorting. Cannot really help with any more than that.
eric the car guy has a great you tube video on how to.

I would agree it's the distributor in some manner. Perhaps a coil, but definitely happening there. Had a similiar issue but on a Civic and the distributor had to be replaced.

Thank you both. Haven’t had time so I’ll see if it’s the dist in any way.
