you need a rebuild buddy.. Your clutch packs are slipping meaning they're burned to the metal. that thump is cause it finally catch's..

Re: 94 accord auto transmisson problems
I would try adjusting the throttle position cable first; especially if you also notice "flare" shifting when slowing down then speeding up, like rounding a corner or at yield signs, etc. I just went through this with my 94 EX and found the cable had come loose from its connection at the throttle body. The trans had "hard" shifts for several years and a dealer even told me this was "normal"...a-hole.
Replaced the cable and after a few adjustments the trans shifts fine. I even checked the shift solenoid filter screens but they were perfectly clean.
Motor mounts could also be broken/worn. Also happened with mine.

portugueboy10 this is sound advice...
Does the transmission thump/clunk when put into gear? While stopped place the transmission into R or D. If there is the same clunk sound it most likely is one of the engine mounts.
Check the fluid, make sure it does not smell burnt, if so change it, the fluid has already begun to break down.
THANKS FOR PLAYING...
