90 Accord - No taillights or dashlight. Headlights work. Integrated Control Unit?
I have a 90 accord lx. A day or two after I replaced an aftermarket stereo head unit with the original unit, all of my dash lights, the warning chime and my taillights stopped working. The headlights still work, as do the backup lights, the hazards and the turn signals. The original headunit was malfunctioning and I am wondering if it might have shorted out the Integrated Control Unit. I have checked all the fuses in both fuse panels and they are all good.
What else should I check before replacing the integrated control unit? Is there any way to test the unit other then getting a replacement and seeing if it solves the problem? If I do have to replace the unit, can I use any unit from a 4th generation accord? The part number on mine is 38600-SM1-A0. My local junkyard has part number 38600-SM5-A0. I think it is from a 92 accord.
Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.

i had a similar problem in a civic, which turned out to be the illumination wire was shorting out on the metal dashboard cage..are you blowing fuses?

I'll still put money it's the dimmer switch or Small Lights Fuse. Sounds like you shorted something when you did the install.
Recheck the fuses and use a fuse tester, not just a eye check.

I just fought the same battle with my 96. I found there are 3 things that can cause all those lights to be out. #1 is the 15 amp "lights" fuse under the hood.# 2 is the headlamp switch itself.# 3 is the dashboard rotary dimmer switch. All 3 are on that same circuit together. Its on the red/black wire.
