Whining between 3000 - 3250 RPM
So my car makes a humming noise between 3000-3250RPM. It's kinda unnerving while driving on the highway and makes my car seem a lot more dysfunctional than I believe it is.
What I've noticed is it will make that noise in 3rd and 4th gear, so I don't think it's the torque converter or serious tranny problem. ( I think the torque converter clutch is messed up anyway since I ride 70mph at 3k rpm which is high. Sometimes willl drop to 2.7k)
I've been told it could possibly be a vacuum leak. I sprayed some carb cleaner on a few lines but I didn't want to be to messy since I know it can screw up electronics.
Does anyone have any other possibilities as to what the whinning noise is coming from? It sounds like a constant hummmmm... and then on the highway, around 80mph it pretty much goes away.

First off, what type of Vehicle are you driving?
Have you had your tires replaced or are they still good? Bad tires could cause "humming" too at certain speeds. With this in mind, i'd have the front end of your vehicle checked out to make sure all your front end parts are ok as wheel bearings can also be the culperate
If it were an engine mount, you'd probably feel it when you accelerate. It'll almost pull to a side or literally flap

not engine mount and not tires. My tag says my car.
It's a whining coming from the engine, a mount wouldnt make that kind of noise at that RPMs. I know what tires sounds like also and it's not that, it's a mechanical issue.

Re: Whining between 3000 - 3250 RPM (Homesickelian)
so this problem isn't a matter of tires or axles or any thing related to wheels. My problem occurs even when I'm not moving. Can anyone help?
I also noticed especially when it's cold, when I start my car, let it idle for a few secs and then shift in R or D4, then to P or N, the idle jumps up and down. It will drop to about 1500, then glide to 2100 drop and repeat. Could that be an issue with a vacuum leak? that is also causing the noise at 3000 rpm?

does it sound like it could possibly be a whining coming from the exhaust? because I know these accords were famous for the exhaust gaskets(the donuts) on the mid-pipe in front of the converter, theres two gaskets there that were famous for going bad, so you may want to have that checked into. My car was doing something similar to this, although mine is a 5 spd, and after changing gaskets the noise seemed to be completely gone.

yes, I am having almost the same issue, but I can't figure it out neither dealer. look like we both having "A pipe issue" to replace this going to cost arm and leg.
well, now I kind of like the sound.

well the thing is it doesn't sound like it's comming from the exhaust. I know it's hard to say with certainty. I'll give it a check but it sounds more like it's comming from the engine bay...
