2001 Honda Accord Sedan Wiper Blades
Hello,
I decided to change my wiper blades today and I ran into a problem. I was under the impression that the Drivers side was a 24 in blade and the Passenger side was a 19 in blade. the parts place i go to had had both a computer you entered your make, model and year into it and it told you which blades fit. It also had the old fashioned look up book both confirmed that it was a 24 drivers and 19 passenger.
Now when I bought the wiper blades and went out to put them on my car, the 24 inch for the drivers side worked perfectly but the passengers side one seemed to long and if installed would bump the cowl at the edge of the window (at the A Pillar the cowl has a piece of plastic that juts out on the passenger and drivers sides) The old wiper left about an inch gap away from the cowl.
Now I checked the condition of the wipers arms and if they were aligned correctly, all was correct. I checked the position of both the cowl and the place where the plastic piece is attached to the A pillar by looking at a 2001 Accord my neighbor owns and the cowl is correct
I then took the wiper that was on the car into the store and measured it with a few of the 19 inch ones they had in stock (i.e. Direct fit, Rain X etc) and the wiper I brought into the store was in reality about a half of inch shorter then the 19 inch making this wiper about 18.5 inches (I also measured my wiper with an 18 inch and my wiper was about a half of an inch longer)
Now is the passenger side wiper 19 inch or 18.5 inch? Do I have to go to Honda to get this wiper? I don't relish paying something like $25 for a Honda OEM wiper when I know that in my past experience that every OEM wiper blade I bought from the dealer for other cars were worse then the aftermarket ones.
Because they were calling for ran, I had to make due with an 18 inch one for the passenger side and the 18 inch blade leaves a gap between the A pillar/ Cowl and the blade so there is no contact between them and when it rained, the 18 inch wiper worked fine with maximum visibility
So can anybody offer any advice as to what is the correct size of the wiper for the passenger side?
Thanks much
L

i'm running 24 driver and 19 passenger ... no problems ... you can use a 18 it's not going to hurt ... the more important side is the driver side of course
