Default 1998 Honda Accord - 5 symptoms of an electrical problem I need help with!

Ok, so I have a few issues and hopefully I'll get someone who knows what they are doing, because the Honda dealership in town is a bunch of idiots and can't figure out the issue.

Symptom #1 - with my car running, I can turn on my headlights...when I turn the key off, the headlights go off...no dinging sound like there used to be.

Symptom #2 - My car can't remember my A/C settings...when it used to. I can turn off car and have to turn all AC buttons on again.

Symptom #3 - My glove box light and vanity mirror lights aren't working

Symptom #4 - My #13 fuse which is labeled as the Clock blows out on contact - this is supposedly also the fuse for my ready codes for inspection purposes?

Symptom #5 - Clock is not working

Ok...here's what I tried. Disconnected clock - Fuse still blew. Replace PASSENGER SIDE Multiplex Unit - Fuse still blew...no issues fixed.

What else could it be? I've never done any wiring changes or any type of modification to any wiring at all...so i would find it hard to believe that the wires just all of a sudden started shorting out...is there something else that connects to that fuse that it might be?

I think you might have a mouse. check for shavings under the dash. or bang on the dash and look for shavings to fall out. It wouldnt hurt to check. once they get in there they reek havok on the wiring causing all sorts of issues.

Just a guess.

thats actually a good guess. my sisters daily driven jetta had a mouse nest right above the blower on the filter.

If you have the resources and time, you need to start to traces wires. I'd also look behind the fuse panel, something could have melted. But something is def. shorting out your lights/clock. Have you checked the fuses for the headlights? i know i had a problem on my car (96) where a fuse blew and the clock would only work on with the car on. it ended up being a weird fuse but check them all.

</TD></TR></TABLE> throw out everything else, this is the one that tells you the problem. you have a short. Most likely you're are getting power over the ground wire. start tracing the circuits with a multimeter.
