Default 1998 Accord Coupe EX 5SPD (Removing Strut)

This is probably a really simple thing to do but I'm still very new to taking apart my vehicle and what not. But I have some questions about the removal of my rear strut and front struts because I'm planning to install lowering springs. Buddies of mine said I needed a power tool which obviously would make it easier but made it seem like it was the only option I have. I did find out myself and on the internet that you can use a wrench and a 8 Bit key to remove the strut assembly but how hard is it? Should I invest in a power tool or can I do this with hand tools? Any advice would help when installing springs. Also I don't own a spring compressor but I do have a grinder
