1995 Honda Accord LX clutch replacement

I'm going to replace my clutch and I was wondering if anyone has the specs needed for flywheel resurfacing, and the torque bolt specs for this job; much appreciated.
Thanks.

Thank you so much. Finally got it dropped and dismantled, just need to take the flywheel to the shop, put in the new clutch set, and reassemble.

Re: 1995 Honda Accord LX clutch replacement

It seems as though I may have encountered a problem I don't want to have. After removing the clutch cover I noticed that the inside of it was caked with what seems to be engine oil...wondering if this is a the rear main seal leaking, and if it's relatively doable with the trans out?
Thanks.

Perfect time to replace it....Hope this is the only time you will ever see it. IMO, replacing the rear main should be considered as "normal" while doing this job....even if it wasn't leaking, I'm there, why not.

Re: 1995 Honda Accord LX clutch replacement

Guess my question is, can I replace it without tearing apart the engine; is it accessible with just the transmission off?

Trans off, flywheel off.....you are there. Take your time removing the old one, so no damage is done to the block/pan surface...then lightly oil the new seal and install with care.....done.

That is why I said, you'll be looking right at it...why not replace it? IMO, it is like replacing the wp or seals while doing the t-belt.

Yup, no need to tear the whole engine just to replace that seal. Carefully pry the old rear main seal out and use a same diameter size tool to pound the new one back in til it's flush.

Good Luck!

There are youtube videos that show how to remove the seal. It's surrounded by a plate that should be removed as well.

Got it replaced and reinstalled. After thinking about it though, I feel as though I may have pushed the seal in to far; its not even with the face, but drove in back to the little lip that was in the inside of the hole. Should I drop the oil pan and replace it again? Went out to check it, and it looks like it is fingernail thick away from the cover; don't want a leak....

If you have everything put together, I would simply just see if it's going to leak. With the engine running and the flywheel inspection cover off, you will have an oil leaking down passed that end of the oil pan if the seal is leaking. Just make sure you do a good job with the oil pan gasket, start with the middle bolts then tighten out towards the corner bolts/nuts.

I'm hoping you put grease around the inner race of the seal as your supposed to have done. This helps the seal break in. Considering you have the seal not quite perfect this could be key.

I took the cover and flywheel off again just to see how far it was in. It's about fingernail thickness away from the cover, like a mm away from it. I put motor oil on the inside of the cover, outer seal, and inside the seal.

Took some pics, along with some molding clay indentations.

Re: 1995 Honda Accord LX clutch replacement

It's going to be your call. I know I did the same thing but ended up just buying a new one and pulled it but this was before I reinstalled it. Looks like you got it all together. The thing about it is that it looks like there's some kind of lip that developed just slightly from the inside of the seal, like a small indentation. I don't think that's part of the seal.

Oil should work the same as grease for the breakin. It's going to be your call. Me, I would probably just start it up and see if it leaks but that's me.
