1995 EX and 1996 EX Accord fuel guage problem
Last year we purchased a Black 1996 Accord EX for my girlfriend which had no problems with the fuel guage. It always read accurately. Now 3 weeks ago we purchased a black 1995 Accord EX for my sister, and her fuel guage reads at 3/4 of the way full, even with a full tank. Having a messed up fuel reading sucks!
Strangely enough, just last week, my girlfriend's 1996 Accord EX just started doing the EXACT same thing. Her fuel guage stops at about 3/4 of the way even with a FULL overflowing tank.
Could it be that the fuel sending units on the fuel pumps went bad? Just weird as hell that both of these cars have the same exact problem. Is this a common Accord problem or something?
Thanks all

Re: 1995 EX and 1996 EX Accord fuel guage problem
Anyone know where to purchase the fuel sending units? Ebay has tons of fuel pumps for cheap but dont include the sending units, and the sending units they do have, are for 80's accords. Just yesterday the 95 EX sending unit gave out all together. I've read many posts online that people have bought a NEW sending unit for as little as $25. Advance auto parts lists the part at around $150, but they can't sell it separately they told me. I'd have to buy it with the fuel pump together which would run me about $380!!!! Hell no!!
Edit : I googled a few units but they are all at least $100 just for the unit alone. Is this the normal price for them?
Edit again : I called a local junk yard where I always have bought my parts from with no problems at all. They won't sell the sending unit alone, so it will include the fuel pump as well. The cost for the 95 accord fuel pump + sending unit is $60 and comes with a 100 day warranty on it. The 96 accord fuel pump + sending unit costs $75 and also has a 100 day warranty. Does it sound like a good deal? To me it seems pretty good.

I can't help with locating the parts, but I can confirm that your problem does not appear to be that unusual. I have a 1995 Accord LX and it happened to me when the car was only about 3 years old. I would be driving with 3/4 tank and next time I glanced at the fuel gauge it was on Empty. Turned out to be the sender and it was not cheap to fix.
My boyfriend's aunt had the same problem with her 96 Accord.
Good luck with parts and repair.

this is a common problem. Im only aware of it happening on LX. buy a new genuine honda fuel level sending unit. I've tried a used one before, and no good came of it. My first accord was like that 2 yrs after I bought it.
