1993 Honda Accord...awful metal scraping noises

I have a 1993 Honda Accord that was previously my grandmas, and has been amazingly maintained. A few days ago, out of the blue, a very loud noise that sounded like metal scraping on metal started coming from what sounded like somewhere in the front of the car...maybe even the driver side? It doesn't happen when I'm in reverse, and it seems to stop when I brake, but get worse when I accelerate.

I was planning on towing it to a brake shop tomorrow, but after reading a few things online I'm second guessing myself, thinking it's something else.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Sounds like it may be brakes for one and a wheel bearing for another

I bet its your heat shield for the Catalytic converter.

It's gotta be a gravel bit that got stuck between the dustshield of the front rotor. Mine did a nice and loud squeal/scraping noises after I drove through a street with gravel. Otherwise, time for some new brake pads?

And tik, if it was the OP's heatshield, the rattle noise would've changed with engine load.
