1992 Accord 5-Speed Whistles in 3rd/4th Gear at 1.7-2k RPM
My 92 accord, which shifting into 3rd, at approx. 1.7-2k RPM, the engine whistles from a low to higher tone as I approach 2K - once I'm passed 2k RPM, the sound is gone. The same happens in 4th gear, only in that RPM range. It's louder in 3rd than in 4th.
This is only when applying throttle. As soon as I lift my foot off the pedal or go into neutral, it stops. The sound is coming from the right (passenger) side of the engine.
If it was an issue with the intake, I would think I'd always hear it while accelerating even in 1st, 2nd, or 5th, but this isn't the case. I don't have a cold air / short ram - just a standard K&N air filter.Any thoughts on what this could be?

A flat panel replacement filter or a conical filter?
Have you removed the air silencer(muffler) before the air filter?
