96 Accord, immobilizer install
96 Accord, w/ H22a4
Ok, so I do have the 96, OBDII ecu...........I don't know if I am the only one that thinks it sucks, but the power band is not smooth at all
Has anyone ever sucessfully installed a 1997 motor, w/ a 1997 ECU in a 96Accord. What do I need, and what needs to transpire.
----I also do have a 1997 Prelude OBD II US ECU----
I have pretty good contacts with the local Honda dealerships, so getting someone at Honda should not be a problem.
???? I would also like to know if any of you guys have experienced a lumpy power band when doing a 97 motor with a 96 Prelude ECU ????

If you want to use the 97" lude ECU, car the dealer and give them the VIN number off the car that the ECU came out of. With this they can give you whats called a "Break Code". Its a code that you use the brake pedal to by-pass the immoblizer system with to start the car. Then just drive it to the dealer and have them cut and program new keys for your ignition. Its a royal pain in the ***, but it works.

if you used the 97 usdm ecu, you will need all necessary immobilizer parts, ie ignition. i have a 96 accord and i'm puttin in a 97 h22a4 usdm motor with a jdm p5m 97 jdm ecu. the jdm ecu doesn't have an immobilizer. so the best bet is to get a 1996 p13 obd2 ecu (good luck) or find a jdm p5m or even better p5p ecu. the p5p is the prelude type s ecu and the p5m is a 97+ prelude ecu.
