1991 Accord SE Oil Filter Housing
Hey forum....I purchased a 1991 Accord SE 4DR Auto a few months ago to restore but have fallen into a pool of problems. My recent major is the oil filter housing is cracked. I went to a guy parting his out but to my dismay it seems that this does not come apart how I thought. My question is this: is the oil cooler different than the oil filter housing? My local garage said the "oil filter housing is cracked" and I loose all my oil within minutes. I removed the filter from a 1990 accord lx w/ Manual tranny from a local guy parting his car out: is this where I went wrong? Honda dealer told me all accords, 90-93, were the same. I did not see anywhere to remove the oil filter "bolt" and the housing on this vehicle looked like it was intergrated into the block. Any help will be appreciated!

Is part 22 what you are referring to?
15500-PT6-003 022 001 COOLER, ENGINE OIL (TSUCHIYA) 354.70 248.29
Verify that its not just a leaking gasket #33 or a loose 'bolt' #23. Not all cars have the oil cooler extension. If you cannot locate a replacement oil cooler, you may look into just deleting that part for now and using a standard oil filter 'bolt'(#24) to mount the filter directly to the block.

Sorry if this is an old thread but im bringing it up again. I want to install an oil cooler from a prelude in my 91 LX but I am having the hardest time finding the right size nuts to pull the oil filter stud out. I tried looking for axle nuts but can't find the right one. Someone said a VW axle nut can be sued but never said which one. Does anyone know what car it was?
Thanks.

You don't use nuts to pull it out. You use a wrench and socket to remove the center bolt of the oil cooler housing. Why would you look for an axle nut...measure the head of the bolt you need to remove and get the proper sized socket.

Re: 1991 Accord SE Oil Filter Housing
To be even more specific you are looking for a 20mm x 1.5 nut. Most times you see a metric nut/bolt being sold. They are designated by thread size and pitch, not the socket size.
So yes that is a 20mm nut, but weather or not it is a 1.5 or 1.0 thread pitch is not noted on the item description. You will have to ask the seller what it is. If they are not 1.5 you will have a hard time getting two of them on there and lock.
