1991 Accord LX idle/tranny problem
Greetings! 1991 Honda Accord LX w/197,000 miles. In order to correct an erratic idle, I replaced
the air idle control valve with no success. I then opened the top of the FITV valve and rotated the white
diaphram clockwise until tight. Unfortunately part of diaphram chipped off. My major concern is that
the car will change gears as it should EXCEPT from time to time it will act strange and hang up in
second gear unless I greatly accelerate in which it will go into 3rd (no 4th). It will also lunge when you first
accelerate. If I shut down the car for 10 minutes it goes back to shifting just fine. There are no check engine or blinking "S" so I don't think
it is the TCU. I will order another FITV to play it safe. Any suggestions from the crowd? Thanks!!!
