1990 Accord E-brake dash light and no power to fans or radio
I turned my car on one day last weekend and it's doing something odd. When the car is in aux, the radio and the vent fans work. When I turn the key and start the car, the radio dies, the fans die, and the e-brake light on the dash is on solid. I've verified that the handbrake isn't engaged. Also checked the brake fluid reservoir and it's full.
I'm also getting a squealing noise like a belt when it's in park. Any ideas? Sounds electrical, like a dying or dead fuse, but the belt noise sounds like it could maybe be something , too. The car runs fine otherwise.

I'm ******* stumped.. When the car is in the "on" position everything works fine. But as soon as the engine is running and the key goes back to the "on" position you have no power other than the brake light?

Trust me, I'm just as stumped. The car was running fine last week until I parked it. Came back out, turned the car on, and this.
I just lose the radio and the ventilation system, not everything. Still have headlights, all my brake lights work (even the third eye), and as far as I can tell, the rear defroster works. Just very cold and hard to drive in the cold temps because of not having a windshield defroster anymore.
It almost looks like it has to have a short in the electrical somewhere, but no idea where or why it happened when it did.
Also, the fan squeal noise is only in Park or Neutral. Still not sure what belt would cause this, but it started at the exact same time. Not the alternator, apparently, because the battery has good charge.

Might be your ignition s/w. When the key is in the "on" position when your radio and **** doesn't work, push the key into the ignition and pull it outwards and wiggle it back and forth. If it all turns on then your ignition s/w is bad.

It is the ignition. I found today that if I turn the key back almost halfway from on to ACC, the engine is running and I gain my fans and radio back. Guess I'll be pricing things out this week.
