Today my accord developed a issue that
it drops the idle to 250 rpm, stalls out,
have to give it gas to keep it running when
I try to start it. Then it gave up a cel code
14 [IAC valve]
2 questions- Ran perfect before, in searching
I am finding ignition switch a possible problem
but the dash lights stay on when the car stalls,
From searching that points away from ignition switch.
Is that correct?

I have changed a couple IAC valves before.
They ussaly idle high when they stick.
Any advice appreciated.

Also no vacumme leaks, plugs ok,
everything within spec. Very sudden
change in the way it runs.
Have owned the car for 5 years.

It may be that both the IAC (Idle Air Control motor) may be no more that dirty. It's actually a servo controlled variable orifice which meters air whilst the throttle valve is closed. This way the ECM controls the idle speed, rather than an Idle set screw (as traditionallt found on early carburetors.
Traditionally, the throttlebody - along with the IAC are cleaned periodically due to a build up of residues which build up. If these become too heavy a deposit - the engine can stall / idle low.

That may well (and often does) take care of it. If not, the IAC may need replacing.

Any thoughts on this.
I am just waitng untill morning to fix.
I just want to verify the Iac valve
due to cost.

stuck with low idle. Just wanted to make sure
that can happen.
