Hawaiian group demands restoration of the monarchy

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200...eover

"In recent years, members have voted to dissolve the state of Hawaii, its land titles, welfare programs and public schools. They also claim the right to confiscate all bank assets in Hawaii."

What do you think?

brah i dunno, everyone has their rights, so i respect that...IMO everyone should just be happy, we all know its gonna take more than assemblies to budge the state and federal government....probably going to take a LARGE sum of money (not bribery...just "insentive") just we all gotta be happy with what we've got, just its sad how everything in hawaii is expensive....i believe we probably have the largest homeless population (not caused by natural disasters) we just gotta take it as it comes guys, lets try and be nice to the government and not hassle them.....maybe they wont be as lost if we dont give them all these protests and complaints to take care of lol

Seriously.....what do these people think would happen if they just all of the sudden cut ties with the US govt? This place would go to shit quick fast and in a hurry.

This made me laugh

We want to get rid of you, but yet we want you to still take care of us. Hmmm, something really doesn't add up here or make any kind of sense.

You guys brought up some good points. The part that I think it's wrong is the "confiscate all bank assets in Hawaii." So your bank account, retirement, and the deed to your mortgage house all will be taken away????? If they want people of Hawaii to support the monarchy, that is NOT the way to do it.

We can agree, that it was wrong for the U.S. Government to take Hawaii away from the Kingdom of Hawaii. Sometime we can't turn back the clock. Every other national group help build Hawaii to what it is today, even the Haoles that took it away. Should we give California back to Mexico? How about Alaska? We bought it from the Russians. Where did the Russians got it from? How about the Louisiana Purchase? We bought it from France. Who perhaps took it from the Spanish. Who took it from????? How far back in History should we go???

I don't know where I stand on this issue. Maybe we should treat this like the Native Americans. Given then their own land so they can self govern.

Is being a U.S. Citizen that bad? Are the laws that govern not fair?

Isn't there a casino in every Indian reservation? Ok. It will provide jobs for the Hawaiians. Think about it. Jobs really for who?

Is that what they want?

thats the thing i brought up with my family today, a casino would DEFINITELY support our economy.......well......its a better investment than a rail station that is only going to benefit bus riders http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif but, back to the monarchy discussion, if the government gave them hawaii and 7 trillion dollars, we would be the target for other larger countries to take over.....so the best way to go about it is lets just stay with the U.S. unless they sell us away to another generous and powerful country https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

I agree 100% that the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii by the United States was a crime, and that it was completely unjust.

However, there is simply nobody around with a genuine connection to the old Hawaiian monarchy, and all claimed connections are pure pretense.

It's completely unworkable. Completely.

I guess the British would have more experince in that area than Americans.

I do agree with you and we can't turn back the clock. How far back should we turn back the clock?

Should we say Japan should go back to China? Should we give the Middle East back to Rome?

Going OT.

Back to the U.S. Why do we have Indian Reservations? Should some of the claim be filed against the Spanish and the French? Weren't they the one that took the Native American's land first?
