who or what cars were you inspiration for building your ek?
There were a lot of cars that inspired the build of my hatch... Sheng, Siinsi, Roaringturtle, Tonyxcom, FF Squad Johnny, Dr. Kimball, Trey, Supertwinz, Ekizzle, B_cruz, Bluedc2ner, Spoon, Area 51, and Benen Industries.

How long have you been into the honda scene?
I've been into the Honda scene since 1994, but had to live my enthusiasm through friends, due to the fact that my first cars were hand-me-downs. I did not have an opportunity to buy and build my own car until I graduated college in 2000. Up to that point, I gathered my knowledge from magazine subscriptions like Turbo, Sport Compact Car, Super Street, and Import Tuner, along with an occasional trip to the drag strip.

How did the ek squad come about?
The EK SQUAD came about in early 2004, when I came up with the idea of bringing together some of the most elite EK hatch owners on Honda-Tech. I wanted to create a group where enthusiast could unite to share ideas and support specifically on the 96-00 Civic Hatchback. When the first stickers were made, I distributed them to a few local friends, being your EK SQUAD 4 fathers... myself, Neema (Ekizzle), Ryan (Airbag Club), and Mark (ATS*Hella_JDM). From that point on, the word spread and members were recruited which helped to build the foundation of the group.

About how long has the ek squad been around?
For a little over 2 years now.
Did you ever imagine that the ek squad would have gotten as big as it has? No, I never thought the EK SQUAD would ever be as big as it is today. I can remember back when we had our first 10 members and I thought that was a lot of people. It was fun seeing the group grow and the response from people as the association was made. Once I started sending stickers out to all over the US and International, I knew the EK SQUAD was blowing up.

What do you hope happens with the ek squad in the future?
I hope we continue to grow with new members and new ideas. It’s great seeing fellow EK SQUAD members being featured in magazine articles, at shows/meets and I hope we see more of that.

What do you look for when recruiting a member?
The first thing I look for are clean hatches that stand out from the rest. I look for owners who are dedicated to their projects. I like to get a feel for what they have done and what they plan on doing in the future. All of our cars are constant works in progress and I try to look for people who exemplify what the EK SQUAD stand for.

And any people you would like to give thanks to or any last words, advice???
I'd like to give thanks to every member of the EK SQUAD, past and present, and to those who support us. Without you, the EK SQUAD would not be what it is today. My advice would be to keep building your hatches, and have fun and enjoy them. I know I can’t stop thinking about what I want to do next with mine.
