Default Where to go in the Deep South?

Any suggestions for a northerner to see the deep south? Looking for somewhere in the Carolinas or Georgia to travel to with my gf. Looking for that southern charm, good food, big sycamore trees. I was thinking Savannah or Charleston, but open to pretty much anywhere.

I would recommend Charleston...but the deep south. Can't really say it's all that exhilarating down there. Be ready for everything to be slow.

Savannah and Charleston are cool.

Also, don't bother going to Hilton Head Island, was so fcking lame, not sure what the appeal is there.

I don't know anyone who would WANT to visit Ottawa, but millions of people come here every year.

And we're lazy so taking it slow is just fine with us.
