Race horse and race dog owners are usually well off people that want the healthiest and strongest animal possible...keeping them caged on shitty diets would be counter productive.

Yup. The greyhound thing is sad. I like your view on these issues.

I believe working/sporting dogs should do what they’re meant to do....it’s literally in their blood. People want to make them into couch potato pets and it’s a shame.

Let the dogs run! They think they’re helping out, but now 8,000 dogs need homes and are literally living in cages and eating shitty food cuz they’re at the local shelters instead of their usual climate controlled kennels with top notch food and lots of play time.

I did a lot of research when I was considering adopting a greyhound. Yea, the rescue shelters view point will obviously be skewed, but there are instances where they're treated wrongly. One crate to house 5-10 dogs. The strict diet is to keep them cut, not for nutrition. Also, they're couch potatoes naturally because they run for hours on end and get tired. Some sleep for 12-14 hours a day.

It just sounds like a shitty life. Then be cut after 2 years, only to be shipped to a local shelter, or killed.

They don't "run for hours on end" what-so-ever. They're short distance sprinters.
Your info is all off-base.

Again, as for the diet....feeding them in any **** manner would be counter productive to their goal....winning races. You don't put a dog out there on a **** diet or starving and think it's going to perform optimally. They are fed FANTASTIC diets.

"Keeping them cut" means they are in shape.

They are short distance sprinters. But they're not just running one short sprint. You think after on sprint they're done?

Also you think it's ok to give a dog raw meat for a nutritional diet?

Man, what a SHITTY life......home cooked meals, one dog per big *** crate, climate controlled kennel, lots of play time, loved on constantly......stop "researching" from the PETA perspective.
I can't comment on 3rd world dog racing, but in America they definitely live good. Again, you can find bad examples I'm sure...but it is not the norm.

My 2 dogs are 100% raw fed since the day I brought them home at 8 weeks old. They haven't had one bite of bagged dog food in their entire lives. My girl Pit is 6 years old, my boy is 5 years old....both in tip top shape. They eat a complete diet of raw meats/organs/bones. Yes, they even eat bones.

Damn you hurt my feelings.

You could argue all day about advocating dogs racing for entertainment because there is always going to be two sides. I can show you the other side of the argument where it shows that they have a shitty life too.

I still think they're lives are shitty. You still argue the other side. You also said leaving your dog for 12-14 hours a day is ok, so I guess that's where our opinion differs.

Obviously this issue is very important/emotional to you, so you can take this one.

I didn't even state a timeframe in terms of leaving my dogs...I merely said it was funny/odd thinking they need you in an 8-hour window.
But you've shown how little you know on the topic so yes, we can definitely move along.

You are right about me caring though. Feel free to join my 77K member FB group to get educated on raw feeding.

Watch out though because it's full of actual dog people, and they're a little off to say the least. If you think I sound passionate about it.....nah, not even close lol

Trader Joe's makes an excellent kibble and at $19.99 for a 20lb bag it is absolutely the best deal going. My guy absolutely loves it and he was on the fancy Zignature and Acana stuff before that.

Well, you also criticized feeding dogs raw meat, which is literally the best, most enjoyable thing they can eat. There isn't "two sides" to that issue.

anybody who criticizes feeding dogs raw food gets written off as not knowing anything about animals.

Raw meat is perfectly fine as long as you start em on it when their young right, Sean? My ex and I fed our Mastiff mix raw and he was fine. Pushing 200lbs when we broke up and I left.

You can transition at any time even, it just takes a little longer for them to adjust. Absolute best diet though.
