Default What Video-on-Demand streaming services are you paying for?

Today a lot of people are forgoing cable and satellite TV in favor streaming services.

A lot of people I know are signed up for at least 1 or 2 of the big streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Now pretty much every single channel or niche genre of entertainment is launching their own service. HBO Now, CBS All Access, UFC Fight Pass, ESPN+, Crackle, Crunchyroll, VRV, Disney+ just to name a couple off the top of my head and they're all doing what they can to attract people with their own proprietary programming.

I'm just curious what people out there are signing up for.

none, learn to use to internet.

on another note

I'm noticing a trend on YT, where host's are asking for donations or support their patreon page. Another thing i'm noticing are the newspaper pioneers asking for subscriptions to support their business.

Once the majority starts moving to specific streaming services its game over for cable/fiber/satellite services. They can **** themselves with their bad tech support service.

I cancelled Netfilx. The few times I turned the TV on to watch Netflix, the video was not available for streaming. So what was I paying for? CANCEL.
I have a TV antenna, I get more than 40 channels, more than enough TV for the 20 minutes or so I watch every other day.

Stupid thing with CBS, if you signed up directly, you can’t access it through Amazon app. Had to cancel subscription and subscribe through Amazon. And I heard if you subscribe to Spotify, you get basic Hulu for free.

This guy knows. You want HBO through prime since you get access to the live channels. It's the same price as HBO now, but HBO now doesn't have the live channels.

I have:

Prime
HBO through Prime
YouTube TV (just added HGTV/Food network/Discovery channels yesterday and upped their price from $40 to $50 )

I literally cut my cable bill in half by doing this vs the cable/internet package I had

IMDB Freedive is pretty good too for free. You have to sit through 2 minute ads every 15-20 minutes, but it's $Free.99 and the commercials are over quicker than TV.

Right, but I still think we are a long time away from that.

If I wanted all or even a good portion of the streaming content out there, I would be paying more than I would for cable.

Every outlet/content provider wants its own individual streaming service. It adds up and is getting out of hand. I pay for Netflix and Hulu, but I also have a password to a buddy's YouTube premium or whatever it's called, in-laws ESPN, buddy's Fox Sports, buddy's Showtime or HBO(can't remember what one, never use it). If I was obtaining all of those the way I should, I would be paying as much if not more than cable.

It adds up for sure but the key to saving is to go month to month. Most subscribers to HBO Now disappear within months of their favorite show ending (GOT). Pick one OTT with live TV and get the premium/exclusive channels elsewhere.

I think you`ll still have a few dinosaur customers who refuse to give up cable or satellite. Once 5G hits peak and they have coverage everywhere, I think that will convince customers to go un-tethered
