Default What is the best Cut of Steak?

How do you get a steak when at a primetime Steakhouse (where steaks are $$$) ? Discuss. Do you opt for the extra sauce on top/side(hollandaise, wine reduction, etc)?

Bone-in ribeye cooked medium. Or Pittsburgh style filet. Horseradish on the side.

I usually wash it down with some FRO.

Medium? You order that at one of these steakhouses and the waiter is going to laugh at you. Probably bring you out some a piece of rubber.

I refuse to order steak at a steakhouse, since it's just good meat, heat, and salt. I'd rather spend 25% on the same cut for the same if not better result at home. That being said, if I MUST go to a steak house, I opt for Prime Rib, since it's a little more complicated to do at home, or Beef Wellington if they do a decent one. As for my favorite cut, Ribeye Cap.

I prefer NY Strips. I like the leaner cut of meat. Not really a filet fan, they're tender but they don't seem to have the flavor that ribeye and strips do.

I like them medium rare with no toppings. Just the steak by itself is best to me.

You can tell who the rookies are by who orders filets.

Chateaubriand if it exists on the menu; if not, filet medium rare.. Sometimes I'll get some sort of sauce they have on the side and forget to use it.

Same. A buddy of mine was a line cook for a James Beard winning chef and showed me how they cooked filets... It's stupid easy to knock it out of the park, we'll even splurge on the $28/lb cuts at the butchers market and it's still a quarter of the final price.

I generally don't go to Steakhouses as I don't see the big hype, I'd rather get something and cook it at home myself. Which would generally be a strip or T-Bone.

If we do hit a steakhouse I will likely just get a strip steak.

I also refuse to take my In-Laws anywhere nice for meat, they are well done, burned people.
They order well done filet..

I always cook for their parties, pretty much all Salvadorian folks too, and I have to burn the fck out of the meat.
Last time I tried to be adventurous and go MW for them, several ******** just threw the meat in the trash..............

Im not talking about an outback here.

The steaks you get at these places (peter lugers, Capital grill are some chains i can think of right now and even those are on the "low" side) cant be just found in your local supermarket. Most steaks are dry aged 28+ days and the cuts are ABOVE prime.

I got you, still feel the same, Capital Grille, Ruth Chris, Morton's, etc. I just don't see it being worth the price. Would rather go elsewhere and drop that $$$

If grilling for hispanics just get a skirt or flank steak, let it marinade in mojo sauce or some bullshit like that for a day, slap it on and cook the **** out of it for them. That's how I would "cookout" for my old family.

On a side note: Have any of you MF'ers tried the meat at Costco? I never thought I'd say this but we've been very pleasantly surprised by it.
