Default Unibody vs Full frame SUV

As you know most people use SUV like a regular car and never seen off pavment. I know full frame are about 500lbs more and therefore 1-2 mpg less.

Please list the pros and cons of full frame vs. unibody.

We are looking at few choices such as GMC Envoy vs. Mitsu Endevor

TIA

full frame will be stronger or at least have the potential to structurally stronger.

you can mod the pure hell out of a chassis on frame vehicle.

Full frame SUVs have more TRUCK like ride because...it's TRUCK derived. Although the new 4Runner is full frame, it rides very well but is no slouch to off roading.

The unibody SUV is cheaper to make because car companies can already utilize existing car platforms. The Ford Freestar is derived from the Ford 500 platform for example (I believe that's right).

Although, the same can go for Trucked-base SUVs like the Tahoe, Suburban, 4Runner, etc. I believe with the Unibody SUV, companies like Ford and GM can stretch a Unibody SUV across all thier divisions. I don't think Volvo execs want a Explorer based SUV!!

If you are basically gonna use it as a tall station wagon, meaning use it to haul groceries, it probably doesn't matter at all.

Full frame will probably be stronger, and they are easier to restore, but you probably aren't concerned about that just yet.

I'd take a GM SUV over a Mitsu SUV any day

Meh...unless you are going to any extreme of towing or four wheeling you won't notice a difference.

A full frame SUV is likely going to be more of an off-roader or hauler. A Unibody is likely going to be more refined on road.

This statement doesn't hold true for ALL SUVS though... I believe Grand Cherokees are Unibody.

eh....I don't think so. The Envoy is NOT a unibody SUV. The Endevor is, just like the Honda Pilot.
